Tibetan Monks | Mandala Tour

The Tibetan monks of the Drepung Loseling Phukhang Monastery in Southwest India visited Vancouver, WA as part of their three-month tour of the United States.  This cultural exchange was designed to introduce their audiences to the principles of Tibetan Buddhism and, more specifically, the role of mantras and mandalas in this faith tradition. From December 3-7 they constructed a mandala at the Fort Vancouver Regional Library in Vancouver.  The photo gallery and videos below document the preparation and construction of the mandala of Avalokitesvara, the bodhisattva who embodies the compassion of the Buddha.
